Here at Prep-Rite Painting, we understand that you care about your home, and we want to help you make it the best it can be, including the outdoor areas, such as the deck. In order to keep your deck in good condition and looking its best, you will need to have it stained periodically. Our team offers expert deck staining services, and in this article, we’ll provide a basic overview of how the process works so you can know what to expect.

  • Make Any Necessary Repairs. Before we begin the deck staining process itself, we will examine your deck for damage or problems, then make any repairs that may be necessary. That way, when we stain your deck, you can rest assured that it not only looks like new, but that it is also structurally sound.
  • Clean the Deck. Another step we take to prepare your deck for its new stain is to clean it. Stain will not take well if the boards are dirty, so we make sure to clean the deck thoroughly before we start applying it. Once your deck is spotless, we will start the main deck staining process.
  • Apply Stain. Finally, our team will apply the stain to your deck. Stain is a type of pigment that seeps into the fibers of the wood, altering the color and giving the wood some additional protection from the elements. Our team will also apply a topcoat to further seal the boards of your deck against moisture and keep it in better condition in the long-term.
